Marlin Fun

We had a great day yesterday releasing five White Marlin and a Sailfish.  Great action for John Bailey and Ray.  Ray released two himself.  at 13 years old, he’s loving the fishing and appreciating living next door to an offshore captain.  I think we have a fisherman for life!

More Action!

The Pelican had a great day on the seas today releasing two White Marlin and loading the box with 25 Dolphin.  The ocean was calmer today and the weather has been great with a nice east/north east breeze.  It’s great to see the fleet fishing and everyone getting back to normal after Irene.

Good bite

Five out of 10 whites Bill Degraw and his crew have no complaints even with a little sea. Call Arch at 252-216-7071 and get it on.

Back at it…..

While the storm has made its mark on the OBX we are a resilient community. Our infrastructure is sound and repairs are well underway. Access to the ocean and the main populated portion of the barrier Island is intact.  Accommodations improve daily as we recover from Irene.  The late summer and fall is a beautiful […]

We are fishing post Irene!

Thanks to everyone who has called to check on us.  We are all fine and for the immediate and foreseeable future the Pelican will be fishing out of Pirates Cove Marina (web cam link) which is located here on Virginia Dare Trail west of Whalebone Junction Information Center on Rt. 64. Unfortunately Oregon Inlet Fishing […]

Arch, Summer, Bailee and the Pelican

Irene was tough on the outer banks. There is some sound side flooding damage. Arch, Summer, Bailee and the Pelican are OK.  They have some cleaning up to do and will update you on their status as soon as possible.

Battened down and waiting it out.

Thank goodness Irene weakened at landfall.  Even so the wind and rain is intense. Hopefully sound side flooding won’t be so bad.  On Monday Charlie Britt and Alan Huband caught and released 10 White Marlin on board the Pelican. They took some great photos you may view in this slideshow link.

IRENE

We’ve been preparing ourselves the last few days for Hurricane Irene.  Arch has lived here longer, but since I moved here 16 years ago, the Outer Banks, with the exception of Hatteras Island and hurricane Isabelle, have been pretty lucky.  I have not seen this area in a situation that we haven’t been able to […]

Incredible White Marlin Monday!

It was a rough day but that didn’t stop us from finding the White Marlin.  Alan Huband and his crew released TEN White Marlin!  What a day!!!!  The weather today and tomorrow is perfect and I’m looking forward to hearing another great report from Capt. Arch.  Great job guys toughing out a little roughness and still performing like […]

Marlin Fever!

Awesome day yesterday with Seven White Marlin releases!!  The Whites are hanging around for the party and we’ve been invited to play!  The Pelican has released 10 Whites and seen 4 Blue Marlin in the last two days!  We’re keeping our eye on Irene but until then the weather looks good.  Will keep you posted! Don’t […]
