Most Captains would be happy with releasing 11 White Marlins of the “bunch” raised. Apparently that count was subpar for today. The Billfish bite is turning out to be epic as the Red Drum start to show up off the OBX piers. This will lead to very long days.

On a more important note a fundraising event will be held for Sonny Albarty on September the 26th .  Among the items to be auctioned to help fund Sonny’s treatment will be a day’s charter on board the Pelican. More details to follow.  If you are interested in bidding please email arch@fishthepelican.com

Jim Motsko and his fellow club members enjoyed the North Carolina off shore fishery catching 29 of the 40+ White Marlin raised over the last two days. Every boat in the fleet who tried for billfish was rewarded today.  The Pelican has the 24th through the 27th open.  Sonny Albarty

The Pelican and crew found them biting.  They went 15 for 20 today.  With no change in weather the fish are hanging around. September 24 – 27 are open!  Call Arch at 252-441-3197 or email arch@fishthepelican.com if you’re interested.

With no weather of significance forecasted the fish should hang around for awhile.  Today Ian Smith and friends went 12 for 20.  Overall every boat in the fleet caught fish.

John Bailey enjoyed good fishing today.  He caught 10 of the 20 or so White Marlin raised. The entire OBX fleet enjoyed similar fishing. Some a little better than others.

The Pelican went 6 for 11 on the White Marlin yesterday. In the bigger and much more important picture we extend our thoughts and prayers to Sonny Albarty V and his family.  More details are posted here.

The Wood clan and friends have come on board with dredge cam in hand. They managed 7 for 12 on the White Marlin and a couple of nice Tuna’s. Hopefully some underwater footage.

The White Marlin bite remains very good as the entire fleet reports excellent fishing.

In spite a persistent breeze and greener water the Pelican managed 10 for 17 on the White Marlin.  The rest of the fleet did well with a few boats in the mid teens.  A couple of  Sails and Blue Marlin were mixed in. Good weather pattern to keep this going.

Despite rough seas the Pelican made it out to catch and release 19 of the 27 White Marlin they raised.  The fleet averaged catches in the low teens.
