It’s On Fire!

We had another excellent day yesterday!  Even with large amount of boats out for a Saturday, we were able to fill the box with Yellowfin.  Great action!  We landed two nice Dolphin as well.  A perfect day, the way Spring fishing is supposed to be.  It’s Tuna Time~~get on board!

Box Full Of Tuna!!

Yesterday was an excellent day for fishing. We hit the Yellowfins four times with all rods going off.  Exciting fun!  Nothing like filling the box with nice size Yellowfins.  Weather was great and another perfect day on the water.  The Yellowfin Tuna have been around consistently with nice Mahi as well.  Fishing has been great […]

Gaffers

Really big Dolphin and enough Tuna to keep it interesting. The Pelican, as well as most of the off shore fleet out of North Carolina enjoyed relatively calm seas.  At least when compared to the morning forecast.  Among the bounty of table fare a Blue Marlin was caught and released.

Perfect Conditions

Light winds and calm seas made for a great off shore adventure for Elizabeth, Bev, Jeff and Matt.  They hail from Richmond, VA and will return home with stories, Tuna and Mia Mia to feast on. Meanwhile and closer to shore the Cobia have moved in!

Back at It!

The Pelican and crew are back at it after a winter of R&R. Sail fishing in Mexico was great and a month in Destin Florida chasing anything that would bite on light tackle was even better. Helps to walk the pier and recharge the battery. Especially when they are biting. Oregon Inlet is good to […]

Great Start To 2012 Season!

While Blue Fin Tuna fishing has been great all winter within the Oregon Inlet fishing fleet, The Yellowfins showed up in great numbers this week!  It’s hard to believe we are approaching our fishing season already, but definitely welcomed.  We are gearing up to begin fishing April 27th and truly looking forward to another productive […]

Spring time!

It’s the time of year when not much is biting and everyone starts thinking about it when they will. Arch fished Mexico this past January and February with good results. Out of 30 or so days fished he averaged 20 fish a day. Probably twice that many taking a look at the baits in some […]

Mexico Sailfishing Update!

If this is something you have considered doing in the past, get off the pot and do it.  It is some of the greatest Sailfishing you will find, not to mention leaving the cold behind and soaking up the sun and enjoying authentic Mexican culture.  It is an experience that is a must if you […]

Pelican 2011 Review

This year has been like most any other.  Consistently different. The Pelican crew caught and released over 250 billfish.  While White Marlin and Sailfish numbers were better than average, they were a bit off compared to 2010. The Blue Marlin count was up. We had 17 to the leader this past season.  7 of those […]

Two Days of Limiting Out!

The last two days have been very exciting while we indulged in the Yellowfin Tuna Bite!  This weekend was filled with awesome weather, fishing and most of all great anglers.  We had a great time!  We’re looking forward to finishing this month with more days of loading the box and limiting out.  Take advantage of […]
