Pelican 2011 Review
This year has been like most any other. Consistently different. The Pelican crew caught and released over 250 billfish. While White Marlin and Sailfish numbers were better than average, they were a bit off compared to 2010. The Blue Marlin count was up. We had 17 to the leader this past season. 7 of those where estimated to be over 400 pounds. The Dolphin and Tuna fishing was average to slightly above normal with a good showing of Big Eye Tuna in May and June. A few Cobia showed up just before Memorial Day and made for an interesting stop on the way in from blue water. As of this date a few Tuna are still around and the Stripers should be gathering soon.
Oregon Inlet has recovered nicely from Irene’s sound side flooding. We are tied up for the season and will be trying our luck in Florida and Mexico. Reports may be more intermittent from now until May as we “take a break”! A big THANK YOU to everyone who chose to fish with us this year and we look forward to seeing you again. The calendar for 2012 can be accessed here or you can give Arch a call.
