A Bit Rough

The wind has picked the last few days. Spotting and catching has been a challenge. In spit of the excuses the Pelican and crew have managed to release a couple of Whites out of the half dozen seen. The box has held a few Tunas and gaffer Dolphin as well. We are hoping it lays […]

Slam!

In an effort to crank it up a notch John Seskos, his son and a couple of friends challenged Arch and Lee to do so.  While the day started out with a flubbed triple play. Score Billfish 3 Pelican 0 ,  the next few innings improved considerably.  When it was all said and done the […]

Persistence

The Pelican and a few other boats from the OBX fleet made the long run (40+ miles) to the Marlin hole today.  The trip paid off as Tom Thompson caught and released 3 White Marlin. They raised 7!  Rouge Wahoo wreaked their normal havoc but no lures or teasers where sacrificed. A few Blue ones […]

Some Days Are Better Than Others

Paul Gerlach drove down from DC for a couple of days of blue water action onboard the Pelican. Unfortunately the Marlin bite has slackened off a bit. The Pelican did manage to limit out on Tuna yesterday.  Easy when there is one angler on the boat.  The 1 White Marlin they did see was not […]

Not Every Day!

Tom and brother Ed Wilson, along with their better halves, enjoyed an unusual day on the Pelican. While the fishing part is part of the program, what and how they caught was not. Always at the ready Arch likes to keep a loaded spinning rod on the bridge.  After some commotion on a flat line […]

SAIL TIME

John Gordon and friends enjoyed a choppy day on the Pelican. They ran east of the inlet a good ways and found 1 out of two Sailfish eager to please. The 10 Tuna they put in the box was equally satisfying.

Monday, July 30

We have a party of two that are interested in booking July 30 and looking  for a few more to split the cost of the trip.  If interested please call 252-441-3197 or email arch@fishthepelican.com.  Great way to share the cost of a trip on the Pelican!

Great Day!

Yesterday, John Bailey, his son Robbie,  and nephew Eric caught one out of two Sailfish to finish the tournament with a total of two White Marlin and a Sailfish release.  Today, our make up party caught a 400 lb Blue Marlin, three of four Sailfish and a Yellowfin Tuna.  Not bad for dodging storms.

Dare County Boat Builders Tournament

Lay day was yesterday for all boats.  High wind made for a rough start this morning but not without a few Marlin released in this tournament.  Pelican released a White Marlin today and gearing up for tomorrow.  Best of luck to all!

It was worth the run.

Gary Woods and his family had a good day on the Pelican.  They ran awhile but it was literally “worth it in the long run”.  Arch and Lee managed to find and help them present baits that 2 White Marlin and 1 Sailfish fed on.  That included the hooks as they were promptly released. However […]
