Pete Dunklee and friends enjoyed a great day of fishing onboard the Pelican today. 14 Yellow Fin, a dolphin and two citation Wahoo, weighing in at 55 and 43 pounds respectively, went in the box. The weather turned out to be much calmer than forecasted as Beryl poses less of a threat for the time being. The southern end of the OBX fleet also enjoyed good fishing. A couple of Blue Marlin were released.

Nothing but a big swell so far. Not enough of one to keep the Pelican and a portion of the OBX fleet from a day of fishing. A lot of variety today as Tuna in the 30-40 pound range along with a couple of 25 LB plus Wahoo made there way into the box! Big Eye’s showed up and provided a good pull as well. The sharks could not resist the temptation and harassed the fleet for most of the day. Let’s hope Beryl fizzles out.

Tom Postalwait and friends enjoyed a rather sporting day onboard the Pelican. They left junior at the dock today. Remember him from last year? 16 Yellowfin went in the box and several more where returned to grow up some.
The run off shore was a bit rough and the day did not get any calmer as far as the seas go. A deepening area of low pressure is trying it’s best to blow out the fleet. It’s going to need to try harder to keep the Pelican at bay.
With a bit of sea and typical OBX May weather conditions the Pelican made it out to the Tuna hole. As they have most everyday that’s been fishable the group was rewarded with a box full of Yellowfin.
As of this date the Pelican has the 29th and 30th of May as well as June 25th, 27th and 28th available. Call or email Arch at arch@fishthepelican.com if you want to find out more details or book a trip.
can produce a box full of Yellowfin. The Pelican carried Carl and his buddies from Frederick, Maryland out to 64 degree water and found Tuna willing to help them celebrate a birthday or two. Great excuse to go fishing! In spite of the rain squalls a good time was had by all.
In spite of a dire forecast associated with a decaying area of low pressure the OBX fleet pressed on. Fishing near “The Point” and filling the box full of respectable Tuna and Mia Mia the Pelican and crew also released a sail. In the heat of the moment and amongst the fleet, in grass, Arch’s shotgun rig peeled off ¾ of a spool as a huge splash occurred port side….. Then the line went slack. Hmmm what could it have been?
Gearing up for a stretch of summer like weather with a few days to fill. Come join us!
Yellowfin Tuna fishing is off the hook!!!! Awesome day with a BOX FULL!!!!
We had another excellent day yesterday! Even with large amount of boats out for a Saturday, we were able to fill the box with Yellowfin. Great action! We landed two nice Dolphin as well. A perfect day, the way Spring fishing is supposed to be. It’s Tuna Time~~get on board!
Yesterday was an excellent day for fishing. We hit the Yellowfins four times with all rods going off. Exciting fun! Nothing like filling the box with nice size Yellowfins. Weather was great and another perfect day on the water. The Yellowfin Tuna have been around consistently with nice Mahi as well. Fishing has been great this season. Get your friends and family together and take advantage of this great fishing we’re having.
Really big Dolphin and enough Tuna to keep it interesting. The Pelican, as well as most of the off shore fleet out of North Carolina enjoyed relatively calm seas. At least when compared to the morning forecast. Among the bounty of table fare a Blue Marlin was caught and released.
