Jonathan Lundy and his 9 year old daughter Claire had a trip to remember today. They had a shot at a Grand Slam!  But it was not to be.  Instead they had to settle for releasing 5 White Marlin. Claire caught two of those. The list of young lady’s accomplishing such a feat is very short.  Our hats off to Claire Lundy. Plymouth, NC should be proud. Claire also made sure the boys put a nice fat Yellowfin in the box. She was not so impressed when they pulled off 2 Blue Marlin and a Sailfish denying her Grand Slam bragging rights.

You can guess where Arch is taking the Pelican in the morning.  Still a couple of days left in July!

The billfish bite is on! Bob Witlow and friends hit the jackpot onboard the Pelican today. A 200 pound Blue Marlin, 4 White Marlin and 1 Sailfish were caught and released.  This amounts to an OBX grand slam…..Congrats to all. A lot of bill fish are showing up and we are looking forward to a great July bite.

Dodging storms this morning, we successfully landed 35 real nice Mahi along with 2 Yellowfins in the 35-40 lb. range.  Other than this morning we had pretty decent weather.  Looking forward to weather clearing up, but we definitely needed the cool down.

A ton of fun aboard the Pelican today!  We landed 35 nice Mahi, a  Wahoo, and released a nice Blue Marlin.  We also saw a Sailfish.  The Wahoo completely gave all he had and well, we won!  The Wahoo cut off the right flat line and then ate the Hawaiian Eye off the right squid chain, pulled on the right rigger and then finally ate the left rigger.  When we landed him, we were able to retrieve the Hawaiian Eye from its stomach.  One of the guys was adding the expense this wahoo was eating in tackle, thank goodness we got a refund!  The Blue Marlin topped off the day, last fish and finished our day very nicely.  Great job to John O’Rourke and his friends on great angling and making a rough day of fishing worth it.  We enjoyed having you all on the Pelican! A memorable and fun time! Thanks for the day!

The past few days have produced a bite of many different species including gaffer Dolphin, Black Fin and Yellow Fin Tune.  Kite fishing for Tuna has also added to the fun.  The Pelican has caught and released a White Marlin along with a Sail. Let’s hope that’s a sign that many more are on the way.

Fishing has been great on the Pelican. Today we landed six nice Yellowfin Tuna, a Dolphin and an awesome White Marlin release!  Perfect day for experiencing everything!  We are currently available this Saturday and Sunday!  Get on board to pack your freezer full of  fresh caught Tuna or Mahi and possibly have your dream of a Marlin release fulfilled!

family enjoyed there dolphin trip this week. Katherine, Charlotte and Nathaniel caught more fish in one day than they ever have. Check out the photos here. Sunrise with the Austins

A stiff Southwest breeze made for a considerable chop today.  But not enough to hold the OBX fleet at bay. The Pelican ventured out and managed to boat there limit of Dolphin and a Tuna.  A Sailfish peeked at the spread but was not impressed enough to have a go at it.  Hoping it lays out tonight.

Richard Austin, with his 3 children and a friend enjoyed a day out on the high seas.  While it was a bit rough the entire crew enjoyed boating several dolphin.  At least two required a gaff.  Arch and Lee were pleased to be in their company and share the experience with the anglers of the future.  We need more of them.

Just a bit of breeze and a short run to the Tuna hole produced accordingly. We put 4 in the box and pulled off a few.  Let the little ones go! Two sailfish showed some interest but it did not happen.  Still have a couple of days in July open! Check it out here…………. https://www.fishthepelican.com/?page_id=30….  Not to early to lock in good dates for next year either! The calendar is open.
