It blew hard south till dawn Friday then laid down enough to get out to a bounty of Tuna, Dolphin and Wahoo.  Bob Bolt and friends filled the box up and had a great time doing it.Bolt

This time of year you never know but have a good idea.  Steve Jones and his buddies from Gates County, NC went off shore on the Pelican this morning and put some meat in the freezer.  After filling the box with Tuna and a 37lb Dolphin they managed to catch a 66lb Cobia.June52013 Steve Jones

He takes Summer fishing.  Especially when the Cobia bite is on.  She landed the 4 in the photo.  For all you concerned the dog was not nearly as excited as she looked.june42013

“Thanks for another outstanding fishing trip this past Friday!  For me, it was one of the best days of fishing that I have ever experienced – a definite “bucket list” day.  All of us really appreciate how hard Arch and Lee work for us to make sure we have an outstanding day on the water.  We look forward to coming back next year. I hope you guys have an outstanding summer and fall fishing seasons. Thanks again Todd Fischer”  6-3-2013

After 4 or 5 days of off the charts Cobia fishing it’s now Tuna time.  The fleet worked them over today. Mostly Yellowfin with a few Big Eyes mixed in for good measure. Todd Brown and his buddies have no complaints. They filled the Pelican’s box and then there coolers for the trip home. Busy enough to keep Lee on his toes.  The Pelican is open Tuesday!  Call Arch at 252-441-3197

The OBX Cobia bite is becoming the best in years.  While the size may not be as large as in the past, the number of fish being seen and caught are.  James Offutt will attest to that as he shows off a 50+ pounder in the cockpit of the Pelican.  They stopped counting after 20 fish.   The 4th and 5th of June are open!James Offutt 6-1-2013

The Pelican and crew focused on finding the massive school of Cobia migrating off the OBX  Friday. It was the right choice as they ended up pounding them pretty good. 25 plus fish up to 71lbs.  Nice day on the beach.  Let’s hope they stay for a few more days.13 - 1

Today’s group wanted Tuna. So offshore it was and 9 Tuna later a Cobia was landed. Nice day and an incredible Cobia bite close to shore.  This Sunday the Pelican has room for up to three to fill a 3 person charter to be split accordingly.  Call Arch at 252-441-3197 or email Arch@fishthepelican.com
