Year after year I see some of the most incredible fishing happen in the month of July and it seems to be the least sought after month to book a fishing trip. The upside I am getting more intertest as more are realizing the variety and quality of what is caught in July, a truly excellent mixture of game and sport. Yellow Fin, Big Eye, Mahi Mahi and Marlin or Sailfish…what more could you ask for?? Last year huge Big Eye Tuna were landed and in nice numbers, talk about a fight! Not to mention filling your freezer with Mahi and Yellowfin. Oh and dancing with a billfish…In the fishing world we call this an impressive and remarkable catch!!! July is a nice transitional month for all of our target species and I highly recommend taking advantage of it. Don’t “miss the boat” on a great time for fishing in July. If you need more convincing, I encourage you to check out the fishing reports from July of last year. Here is one for the history books

With the Cobia bite continuing to be the best in recent memory it makes it more difficult to decide whether on what to fill up the freezer with as the Tuna and gaffer Dolphin fishing is heating up offshore.

May 18th

Arch and anybody that would go has seen some of the best Cobia fishing in recent memory.  Made it tougher to run off shore and deal with the gaffer dolphin.  Billfish are starting to show up.

Arch kept the Pelican in the Yellowfin and Dolphin successfully steering clear of oversized Bluefin bite Sunday.

After leaving chunks and or lips of Cobia all over the Redneck Riviera Arch is back aboard the Pelican.  Today they managed to box some Tuna and Dolphin.  No pizza for dinner yet!

No doubt this has been a crazy winter and if you love to fish, then like myself, you have spent countless hours watching fishing shows, videos, and read every fishing report of your favorite spots to help get over the fishing blues. SNAP OUT OF IT!! IT’S TIME TO GO FISHING!! Time and time again groups lose out for not booking sooner, so get your days on the books. Starting April 25 the Pelican will be ready! May, June and July are the absolute PERFECT opportunities for Mahi, Tuna and Billfish.!June 3 2013 Brown

Fishing for Sails off of the Yucatan was not as good this year.  The bait did not gather as usual.  Arch will try his luck in the Key’s with Pat for a few days and then venture north. The Pelican will begin fishing in late April.  Give us a call or email arch@fishthepelican.com

With a yet another chill on the east coast doorstep many of you that fish with Arch know he has traveled to fish for Sails off the Yucatan.  Conditions started out rough but it has now laid out enough to run in search of. To date the results have been subpar as the bait has just now begun to show up.

The Pelican’s calendar for 2014 is open so book your OBX trip while the best dates are still available!

Arch has lined up the Pelican, a party and the hunter’s moon for the last three days. They managed to catch several Tuna and missed a Blue Marlin each day.
