Congratulations to all the boats who participated in this great tournament! We’ll see you all next year! Yesterday was our final day and boy did we have some action! We started the morning with a double on both flat lines, 2 White Marlin releases! Then had another double and three singles. We ended the day with three White Marlin releases and a total of six White Marlin releases for the tournament. We just missed third place by time. Not at all because we didn’t try! We were all on our toes. Great job to John, Dick, and Eric Bailey and a big thanks for having me part of the team! I love a good Marlin challenge and had awesome action on the left flat! Capt. Arch and our mate Lee Albarty are a fantastic team! Working flawlessly by putting us on the fish and working the cockpit, first class. More than $70,ooo raised for Dare County student scholarships…mission accomplished!
What a July!
As we get ready for prime time I thought you would like to see a few shots our clients took the second half of July. We are always happy to see young people on board the Pelican. Jon Bolling and and his son Jackson had a great time and will have stories to tell. Check out this slide show and see what else was caught on the Pelican the last weeks of July 2011. We think Jackson is HOOKED!
White and Blue Marlin
Marlin, Tuna and Dolphin
The Marlin are showing up gradually in larger numbers. The fleet had a great catch yesterday with some boats releasing four for the day yesterday. The Pelican has had great catches of Dolphin a few Yellowfin Tuna which have been nice sized and seen quit a few Marlin. We are gearing up for the upcoming Pirates Cove Billfish Tournament starting with the Alice Kelley on the 14th. Hoping for Marlin releases today!!!
Another Good Day On The Pelican!
They ended yesterday with a load of Dolphin and a Nice Blue Marlin release. Excellent weather to boot! The Blue Marlin put on a nice dance and really topped the day off. Billy Haan and his crew did a great job getting these fish to the boat, nice release on the Blue Marlin too!
Exciting Action!
The Pelican had great action yesterday! John Gordon and his crew landed eight Yellowfin Tuna, a Wahoo and released a NICE 300 plus pound Blue Marlin. An awesome day! Great job guys! Today the weather is clear and wind is calm, I’m looking forward to hearing from Capt. Arch and what today will bring us on the blue water. We’ll keep you posted!
Meat In The Box!
Today we rested after fishing just about everyday since the season started and have enjoyed every minute of it. The fishing has been great, a little bit of everything has been caught which makes for a great mix while offshore fishing. Monday, we ended the day with four nice Yellowfin Tuna between 15 and 45 pounds and forty five Dolphin. Marlin fishing is just around the corner and we’re looking forward to a great August and September. We are open this Friday and Saturday, the weather outlook looks good so far, it’s a great time of the month to take advantage of this fishing. Lay Day Today, Intense Yesterday!
Hot and rough yesterday but we saw some action. Two White Marlin releases and one Blue Marlin released has put us on the board with three hundred points. John Bayliss on the Tarheel is in the lead for day one. It’s the best two of three days of fishing. We will be back out on Sunday to finish the Tournament. Good luck to everyone!

They Keep Us On Our Toes!
Across the fleet yesterday is was slower than what we have been used to this week. We have actually been quit spoiled this year but it is not uncommon just really nice, consistent great catches. The Pelican released three White Marlin and landed eight nice Dolphin, now that’s nothing to complain about and if we consider that a little slow, we are doing more than fantastic for July! We’ve got the Boat Builder’s Tournament coming up this weekend and it looks like we will have decent weather (finger’s crossed). This will be my second year fishing with our good friend John Bailey, very exciting….my husband has created a Marlin fishing monster in me, but what would we expect from Capt. Arch Bracher and his passion for fishing…he keeps us all wanting to come back for more!
