Billfish hanging around and an “Epic” Drum bite
The Bucks and there friend Mac went on an October trip to remember. Today they caught 2 White Marlin and went 1 for 2 on Sails. A nice Tuna went in the box along with one of the many Wahoo’s waiting in ambush. Something about Arch’s pricy teasers. The Red Drum bite is off the charts with triple digits this past weekend off a couple of OBX piers. Really big ones. Most likely place to find Arch and Pat if they are not offshore.
A prayer for Lee and his family as Sonny is going through some difficult times.
October surprise and Wahoo saga
6 for 9 on White Marlin and a Blue one today. Another did not bite. Plenty of dolphin as well! A Wahoo tried to get the best of them and bit off the left teaser. Then it ate the left short line. Hawaiian Eye and all. 🙁 Not to be outdone by the toothy critter the crew rigged up and circled back around. Two circuits later the Wahoo was captured and 1 of the two lures recovered. Not bad for October. Good thing as the Drum bite is a bit slow.
Still a few Whites!
After two days of chasing Redfish Arch ventured out to the marlin grounds in search of. Two White Marlin, 1 Sail and 18 dolphin later the trip turned out to be worth the effort. Gerald Sabourin and friends traveled from Vermont to enjoy the late summer fishing.
The first real cold front of the fall is on the map. Maybe it will push the nice slug of fishy water closer to home. Then again it may stir up the Redfish!
It’s not over yet!
What started as a snotty day turned into a nice one. The Pelican went 6 for 9 on the Whites and pulled off a big Yellow Fin. Still days open next week!
The bite is waning???
Tom Turna had the boat booked but ended up having to give his immediate family the proxy, 1 out of 5 on the White bites today. A few Dolphin and Wahoo to keep the crews attention. A few other boats faired the same or a little better. The Pelican is booked through the weekend. Following that the weekdays are open. Call Arch if your game. Otherwise you’ll find him on the pier. The Drum are biting………
Get Well Sonny!
Weather conditions are fantastic for late September. There was a fair amount of pressure as smaller boats were able to venture out with such a calm forecast. The fishing is almost as good. Today the Pelican went 8/12 on White Marlin. Please say a prayer and or wish Lee Albarty and his family the best as 10 year old son goes through some difficult times.
Thanks to Pat Bracher from driving up from the Key’s yesterday to fill in as mate. He should sleep well tonight. The Pelican has week days open starting next Monday.

Make up…
Folks from around the mid Atlantic region made up the crew today. 8/15 on the Whites and near perfect weather conditions.
Arch talked him into it!
John Bailey has found a groove. After yesterday’s great fishing it did not take much encouragement from Arch to convince John to stay and go for it again today. 14 Whites and a 1 Blue Marlin later no one has any regrets and a great catch count to boot. Next open dates are now October 1 – 5 !
The bite continues……….
John Bailey was back on board the Pelican for one last time this season. Arch found the fish while John and his friend Bill did their part. When it was all done they released 11 out of 17 Whites and missed a sail. John has had a remarkable season with over 30 billfish hooked an released including 2 grand slams.
The next three days are open and the weather looks to be perfect! Anybody game?
